Charles River CFO is hiring a Fund Accountant to work for our firm and support our clients. Your first assignment will be with a premier Biotech venture capital firm. The position is full-time, on-site in Boston, and requires 4+ years of PE or VC experience. 


The Fund Accountant will work as part of our team servicing our clients and will have direct communication with the client.

The candidate will interact with various executives, including limited partners, external auditors, internal asset/portfolio management, internal acquisitions, and other internal accounting disciplines. The individual will need to demonstrate leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills. This position requires relevant fund accounting experience, focusing on GAAP for investment companies.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with the fund administrators for shadowing of the books, preparation of monthly estimates, ensuring NAV is correct, assistance with financial statement preparation, valuation of the portfolio, annual audit, and tax work.
  • Review all monthly items including the operating expense schedules, month-end close packages containing financial statements and supporting files, transparency reports, and investor statements
  • Responsible for the review of financial statements, including all statements and disclosures, and coordination of timely completion of audit
  • Assist and oversee daily portfolio reconciliations and trade reviews on the internal portfolio management system, liaising with prime brokers and custodians
  • Play an active role in the onboarding of the acquisition of an additional hedge fund and also assist in the launch and execution of several new single-strategy funds
  • Review of fund's capital calls and distributions, and fund expense payments and budgeting
  • Liaise with other functional areas within the firm as well as outside service providers
  • Ad-Hoc requests and special projects as necessary
  • Assist compliance team with regulatory filings.
